About Me
14 years ago I turned to a plant based diet. Because of ethical reasons.
What I saw was so bad, I could not ignore and support it any more. So I started vegetarian first.
Because to that point I had no idea about the dairy and egg industry. That changed a couple of month later.
When I saw footage, I had no hesitancy to turn to a complete plant based diet.
But for me with my German heritage, that was a struggle. All was so based on animal products on my plate.
But, I managed. I started to veganice the dishes we love.
At the beginning it was not easy, because the supermarkets really didn't offer much products.
Tofu and Soy milk was the basic vegetarian/vegan offer. Hummus and some veggie burgers.
That was pretty much it. So I created.
I made my own cheese, my own sausages and even my own steaks. Life turned pretty good.
I choose to create a new website, because everything changed again.
I want to start all over, improve and connect even more with people who need assistance and seek help.
Of course I keep my first website,... but all my new recipes will show up here.
I have a lot of recipes. And I want to keep that achievement,...
if you like, check it out here https://anges-kitchen-veggieart.weebly.com/
This website is a free one,... means, you cant comment or ask questions, except you send me a message.
But I want to change that as well. So I choose a paid version and really want you to comment,
tell your experiences and maybe give some feedback. ...
... The change gained my health a lot of goods. I lost weight and my cholesterol normalized. Perfect.
I created a FB page and since, help out where I can. A lot of people struggle to do the change.
And in all this years, I could help a lot of people to bring some flavor on their plates.
Living here in Australia, the cuisine is pretty Asian oriented. I love Asian food, Chinese, Indian etc,...
but I can't jump over my European heritage.
For me, that's what I love. German and Austrian based. Because I am thanks to my dad, also Austrian.
I LOVE Greek food. Italian, yes please. Turkish and Croatian/Serbian. The food I grew up with.
And that's what I continue to cook.
My page grew and grew. My first page, because I lost it after a couple of years.
I started all over again. And I still run my page with a lot of joy.
You can check it out here if you like,... https://www.facebook.com/VeganCookingChef/
4,5 years ago, everything changed again.
I started a detox program and had to change a lot of things again. It was a huge struggle.
And things turned more downside than upside. For a couple of month I was pretty unhappy,
because all I loved to cook,... was gone. With that detox program came "rules".
And they limited my diet a lot. I suddenly didn't know what to cook,
how to cook and everything was just a mess. I put in a lot of effort to turn the table again.
I started to create and replace. Like I did when I turned vegan. Replacing animal products with vegan products.
That was a great guide for me. So I changed vegan products to my new plan.
Gluten free, corn free, canola free, no white refined sugar and low fat. I specially struggled with gluten free.
A complete new area opened up. And I had to learn a lot all over again. Bread was and is a HUGE part in my life.
In Germany, bread is a staple!
At the start of the program, yeast also was a no. So I really struggled.
Today, I worked out some really nice breads. German/Austrian bread. I am still learning and working on baked goods.
Still a lot to do. But with what I have now, the world just looks great. I added yeast to my baking again, what made things better.
With the program, I also was in contact with a lot of people via groups etc. So many people struggled with that changes.
Specially the ones who are not vegan. I can imagine how that felt. For me animal products were off my plate for so long.
But I struggled with the rest of the change. So how did non vegans must go through.
I started to help,... create,... and provide my results. And people were so happy.
I received a lot of messages. I see a lot of smiles.
When something delicious is on the plate and still fits the guidelines. And,... makes life easier and more pleasant.
Over the past 1,5 years I let go of some of the programs rules. But not really, haha. I stick to my gluten free life.
I got SO used to it, I don't see why I should change that. And I worked far to hard to let go of all this recipes.
I added more fats to my cooking again.
But still low fat. Compared to my normal vegan diet, this is a total low fat diet for me and my family.
I love it.
I found a lot of joy and passion in all this again. Helping people and myself to feel more fulfilled again.
To not miss out on things, flavors, we love. With all the changes I made, I actually feel so much better.
I lost so much more weight again,... and my health improved really well.
So I hope I can give you some joy for your kitchen as well. I am happy to help with recipes and diet support.
You can contact me via my webpage and my blog, or on FB. Whatever you prefer.
Enjoy my new cooking page. I will of course keep my "old" cooking page as well.
But for the future, I want to continue the healthy way. So enjoy and have fun in your kitchen :-)
