Greek cuisine is one of my favorites.
In Berlin, I loved to visit my Greek restaurant.
There was nothing better in summer than to sit in the garden area and enjoy a fantastic Greek meal.
We always started with the fantastic Greek salad, what is served in Germany different than here in Australia.
A Greek salad in Berlin is served with iceberg lettuce, European coleslaw, tomato, cucumber, olives, lots of onions, feta.
Seasoned with white wine vinegar, olive oil and a sprinkle of Oregano herb.
Sometimes they also add some pickled peppers.
But that depends on the restaurant. Served with Greek/Turkish bread,... perfect starter.
My favorite dish always was Bifteki. Served always with "rice-noodles (named this way because the noodles look like rice
"... made with risoni noodles, tomato paste, butter and cinnamon.
Bifteki is a rissole, stuffed with feta and bbqed on a charcoal grill. Dessert,... we actually always skipped that.
To much food,... no space for that. But an Ouzo, haha. In Germany you always get a "Schnaps" after dining from the house.
Always. And because you hardly can stand on one leg (German saying)
,... you mostly order a second one, hihi. Actually at our restaurant, we also got an Ouzo before dinner.
Served before the salad. So in Germany, restaurant owners are very generous.
Yea, I remember well. Good time! Great memories :-)
Specially in summer I really love to cook Greek.
Some Souvlakis on the BBQ,... with some European coleslaw,... Tzatziki,... Olives,... YES.
Greek has a lot of delicious dishes to offer. Of course my food is all veganiced. I worked hard the first years when I turned vegan on Greek dishes. And I really had great results. But because I chanced my diet again, I start all over again. But that is fine with me.
My new version of a Moussaka is really good. I love it. And my Souvlakis,... I found a way to ban textured soy and processed meat replacement products. I think you can expect a couple of good recipes.
And I plan to fill this section with yummy recipes in the future!
I hope I can inspire you a little bit.
:-)
